Thanksgiving Weekend: Round One!

This Thanksgiving was one for the books, I tell ya. We had a ton of fun. Our family is now en route to their homes and after a quick clean sweep of our home, we are sitting on the couch watching Da Bears.
As I sit watching God's team win against the Vikings, I can't help but think about how thankful I am. For family, for sweet friends, for new babies (our friends had a baby girl!), for PK, and especially for how sweet God is, through the ups and downs of this life. He is good, and knowing Him is better than anything.

I thought it would be fun to share some weekend happenings here on the blog. Today (round one)  is all about our family's adventures at the buttcrack of dawn to walk and run the Turkey Day 5K
It was fun to get out there and be active before a night of yummy food and drink.
Here we are a tad bit cold, but surviving. Representing Miami University even though my loyalties lie with the Illinois State Redbirds forever.
Obligatory shoe circle pic.
There were a lot of people there! I was impressed! Notice the turkey hats. My favorite hat was one that was a piece of pumpkin pie with a dollop of whipped cream on top.
Nothin' says "turkey day" like a hippie lady dressed as Winnie the Pooh.

Proud mama with her kids.
Jen and Mimi hauling tail. Like for real, they were awesome!
Me and my walking buddy. We casually did not haul tail.
Throwin' deuces at mile two. Very apropos.

We said so long to the mustache that day. Notice its gray highlights. Silver fox! I'll miss that thing in a way. But I welcome a nice noticeable upper lip. He now looks more like my husband and less like my childhood orthodontist. No joke, he kinda looked like Dr. Port.
PK on the way right cheering Bryan and me on to the finish. Don't judge our time...remember it was a casual non-hauling tail walk.
A terribly fuzzy picture of the fam with our hot apple ciders. You get the point though.

I think this is going to become a tradition from here on out. We all had such a good time and it was fun to do this all together! Do you all have any fun traditions?

Stay tuned this week for future rounds of Thanksgiving weekend fun: Thanksgiving dinner, my new "niece", walking around Chicago for 12 hours on Black Friday, and going out the next day for more. Let's not forget seeing Catching Fire and loving every minute.
